I have visited the Oregon Coast a bunch of times in the search of surf that is within a day drive of Vancouver, BC. It is in my top places within reach to Vancouver along with Chesterman beach near Tofino on Vancouver Island. This time we stayed in Oregon’s Northern Coast bouncing between Seaside, Cannon Beach, and Manzanita. For the first time I hit Indian beach in Ecola State Park (where The Goonies & Point Break were filmed!) for a hike and then a sunset surf. All I can say is beautiful views and some great surf!

After exploring the area, the next day was devoted to a much needed beach day! Beach, brews, gals in a bikinis, sun nap, and some more surfing at Short Sands in Oswald West State Park. During a surf session here I strapped my helmet camera to the front of my board for a unique point of view and paddled out and caught a wave. See video above.

During the hike back at the end of the day I turned around and took a picture through the forest of the sunset over Short Sands. What a day!
