Hood River, Oregon: Windsurf & Bike

Hood River, Oregon… what a rush! I’ve been heading down to windsurf the Gorge for years and when I’m not hitting the wind at Squamish or  Nitinat in British Columbia then I’m road tripping it south in the search for wind! My buddy “Sprayer” says it well – “So this is Hood River, Oregon.  There really is no other place like it.  Sure, wind and water come together all over the planet, but nowhere else do they combine in such a way and so consistently to produce such epic windsurfing conditions.  I’ve been visiting the Gorge for years and was fortunate enough to be there this Labour Day weekend with my good buddies Wheeler, Hardy, & N8dog.  Windsurfing can be a solitary sport…but just like skiing or biking, it’s best when you can share it with your friends.”

Travellers tip – Just make sure you end your days session telling stories while drinking from Hood River’s notorious Scorpion Bowl! Then before you pass out… pray for wind and do it all over again the next day.
